Read the following passage carefully and then answer the questions given below:

Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla returned to India in the early hours of Sunday after his historic visit to the International Space Station (ISS). Shukla, who has been in the US training for the Axiom-4 mission to the ISS over the past year, was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan. Shukla’s backup astronaut, Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, also returned to the homeland. Shukla is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and travel to his hometown, Lucknow, shortly. He is also expected to return to the capital to participate in the National Space Day celebrations on August 2223.

India’s space glory touches Indian soil… as the iconic son of Mother India, #Gaganyatri Shubhanshu Shukla, lands in Delhi in the early hours of this morning. Accompanying him, another equally accomplished Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, one of the astronauts selected for India’s first human mission Gaganyaan, who was India’s designated backup for the mission to the International Space Station #ISS,” Singh said in a post on X. Earlier on Saturday, Shukla had posted a smiling photograph of himself sitting in an aeroplane on Instagram, saying he was filled with mixed emotions as he left the US and looked forward to returning to India to share his experiences with everyone back home.

“As I sit on the plane to come back to India, I have a mix of emotions running through my heart. I feel sad leaving a fantastic group of people behind who were my friends and family for the past year during this mission. I am also excited about meeting all my friends, family, and everyone in the country for the first time post-mission. I guess this is what life is everything all at once,” Shukla said in the post. “Having received incredible love and support from everyone during and after the mission, I can’t wait to come back to India to share my experiences with all of you. Goodbyes are hard, but we need to keep moving in life. As my commander Peggy Whitson fondly says, The only constant in spaceflight is change.’ I believe that applies to life as well,” he added. Shukla also wrote, “I guess at the end of the day ‘Yun hi chala chal rahi jeevan gaadi hai samay pahiya’,” recalling the song from the Bollywood movie Swades, which was on his playlist just before he embarked on the Axiom-4 mission to the ISS on June 25 from the US. Shukla and his backup astronaut Prashanth Nair participated in the Independence Day celebrations at the Indian Consulate in Houston on Friday.

Addressing the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India was developing its own space station and noted that Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla had returned from a space mission. “Our Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has returned from the space station. In the coming days, he is returning to India,” Modi had said. Shukla was part of the Axiom-4 private space mission that lifted off from Florida on June 25 and docked at the International Space Station on June 26. He returned to Earth on 15 July. Along with three other astronauts Peggy Whitson (US), Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski (Poland), and Tibor Kapu (Hungary) Shukla conducted over 60 experiments and 20 outreach sessions during the 18-day mission. We are living in a world of machines and depend on machines for every field of our life. Everything around us, Air-conditioners, Cameras, Video games, Medical equipment, refrigerators, traffic lights etc, work on a smart technology. Artificial intelligence is a branch of Computer Science that works on to create a computer system capable to react like a human being.

Now computers are millions of times faster than they were fifty years ago. Human brains seem to be “faster” than computers for a wide variety of tasks. Still, greater computational speed does make some so-called Artificial Intelligent systems seem smarter.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a great role in the field of robotics and some of its goals are image recognition, image tracking and image mapping. This application is much valued in the fields of medicine, security, surveillance, military operations, even movie making. Machines with artificial intelligence can be sent to battlefields for treating the soldiers.

Nanotechnology (NT) works on so many researches with the application of artificial intelligence. AI could be boosted by nanotechnology innovations in computing power. NT, with the help of artificial intelligence and robotics, is working on to create micro machines which can change the face of the world.

AI has a great role in the field of education. Intelligent tutoring systems have been shown to be highly effective in increasing student motivation and learning.

Banks and other financial institutions rely on intelligent software which provides accurate analysis of the data and helps make predictions. Stocks and commodities are being traded without any human interference.

Al is used for weather forecasting which is used by airlines to keep a check on its system. Robotics is the greatest success story in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Spacecrafts are sent by NASA and other space organizations into space which are completely manned by robots.

Read the following passage carefully and then answer the questions given below:

Candies, snacks, pastries, ice cream, cakes, cookies, and other processed foods all contain sugar. There are too many cryptic or other names of sugar, some of which are very difficult to pronounce. Because of this, determining whether a food contains added sugar is extremely challenging. Let’s learn about the different names of sugar! In the context of food labeling, sugars are typically categorised into three types: natural sugars, added sugars and artificial sugars. Here’s a breakdown of each according to American Heart Association: Natural Sugar: They are usually present naturally in fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. They come with essential nutrients and with their own benefits. They digest slowly, and release a steady energy. Natural sugars found in whole foods are generally healthier due to their fibre and nutrient content, but moderation is still. To lessen the percentage of developing long-term illnesses, natural sugars should be in moderation. Added Sugar: This sugar is introduced during food processing or preparation, such as in, sweets, and baked goods. Added sugar also works as preservatives. Examples include high fructose corn syrup and table sugar (sucrose). Consuming too much added sugar can lead to health issues like obesity, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Artificial Sugar: Also known as artificial sweeteners, these are synthetic substitutes like aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin. They are often used to replace sugar in diet products, providing sweetness with few or no calories. Sugar can find a mention under various names on food product labels. We have charted all the hidden and different names of sugar that are actually not good for diabetes. The manufacturer uses hard-to-understand names of sugar that work as a mask such as matsyandika which is the Sanskrit name of it. A product is not sugar-free only because the mention of ‘sugar’ is not there. Sugar refers to by more than fifty different names that are manufactured to cover up its presence. Maltodextrin and dextrose, on the other hand, can be more misleading than names like brown or cane sugar. Always read your food labels carefully as an ideal consumer.

31. Which of the following best explains why identifying sugar in packaged foods is often difficult?

Ⓐ Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
Ⓑ Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A
Ⓒ  A is true but R is false
(D) A is false but R is true

33. Artificial sweeteners are preferred in diet products because
Ⓐ they increase weight rapidly
Ⓑ they contain more calories than sugar
Ⓒ  they add colour to the product
Ⓓ  they provide sweetness with little or no calories

34. Choose the correct sequence of True (T) or False (F):

8 Dead in Firecracker Factory Blast in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi

A blast at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi area killed eight people. Rescue operations have been initiated but the cause of the explosion remains unknown. An explosion at a fire cracker factory in Tamil Nadu early Tuesday morning claimed eight lives and injured several others. The explosion reportedly occurred at a firecracker factory in the Chinna Kamanpatti village area, close to Sivakasi, in Virudhunagar district.

According to sources, the explosion triggered a massive fire, and thick smoke was seen rising from the factory, with continuous bursts of firecrackers being heard from inside. The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund. The families of the deceased will receive Rs 4 lakh each, those seriously injured will be given Rs 1 lakh each, and those with minor injuries will get Rs 50,000.

According to the Tamil Nadu government, the deceased have been identified as Mahalingam (55), Chellappandian, Lakshmi, Ramamoorthy (38), Punniamoorthy, Ramajayam (27), Nagapandi, Vairamani (32) and Gandhi, all of whom died on the spot.

Five others, Lingusamy (45), Manikandan (40), Karuppasamy (27), Murugalakshmi (48) and Azhakuraja (28), sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Sivakasi.

This firecracker factory explosion comes just a day after a reactor blast in a pharmaceutical plant in Telangana killed 34 people and destroyed structures nearby. Presumably a chemical reaction caused the explosion at the pharma plant in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on Monday morning. The initial death count was 10 at the time of the incident, which rose after rescue workers moved the debris. [Source: India Today]
